The Orioles have released Jamie Walker, calling up Alberto Castillo in his place.

Grade: B
It was only a matter of time. Walker was good for the O’s in 2007, but struggled mightily last year while battling injuries. This year wasn’t any better, despite the injuries being all healed up. He was being used as the lefty specialist, but lefties were hitting .458 off of him with 5 HRs. He had a 5.11 ERA on the year. All this while only being used for 1 or 2 batters per appearance in most cases. Castillo was throwing the ball well at AAA Norfolk, he had a 3.09 ERA in 24 appearances. He pitched fairly well towards the end of last year for O’s. I would’ve liked to have seen Wilfredo Perez from AA Bowie, but hes been having some control issues.
