The Orioles have placed RHP Chris Ray on the 15 day disabled list with a shoulder injury. RHP Kam Mickolio has been recalled to replace him in the bullpen.

Mickolio was another part of the Erik Bedard trade with the Mariners that also netted us Adam Jones, George Sherrill, top prospect Chris Tillman, and Tony Butler. Sorry for bringing it up again Bill Bavasi… Mickolio had a line of 2-3, 3.21 ERA, 37 K, 13 BB in 33.2 innings pitched, but hes been lights out since he gave up 9 runs in his first 8 innings. Hes been rated as highly as our 10th best prospect coming into the season. We saw him last year, but he wasn’t very effective. It’ll be interesting to see how much hes improved. He could be a future set up man or closer. Its unfortunate Chris Ray is hurt again, but it would explain how hes been pitching this year. Lets just hope its not anything too serious.
