Bullpen Blows It Again In 7-6 Loss

W – Lance Cormier (3-3, 3.23) L – Chris Ray (0-4, 6.65)

You have to give Mark Hendrickson credit. He was able to pitch 6 innings last night in his 3rd game since returning to the rotation and left the game with a 6-3 lead. He gave up 3 solo homeruns and a walk and that was it. He also struck out 3 batters. Of course as soon as he left the game, the bullpen blew up and gave up the lead. Matt Albers started it off in the 7th, giving up a 3 run homerun over 0.2 innings. Chris Ray finished off the inning with no more damage. Nope, he was waiting to lose the game in the 8th. He gave up the game winning run on a hit and 2 walks. He did get one out in the 8th, but Danys Baez came in and got the other two.

In the 3rd the Orioles tied the game at 2-2. Nick Markakis hit a double, Luke Scott walked, Matt Wieters singled in Markakis, and Melvin Mora grounded out to score the other run. We got two more runs in the 4th on Brian Roberts’ 16th homerun of the season after Jeff Fiorentino doubled. Fiorentino singled in a run in the 5th and Mora singled in a run in the 6th. Wieters had 3 singles and a walk in the game and Markakis had 3 walks to go with his double.

Player of the game: Matt Wieters (3-4, RBI, BB (.292 AVG))

Jeremy Guthrie (10-16, 5.10) takes the stage tonight against Wade Davis (1-1, 4.07), who shut down the Orioles the last time we faced him.
